Green Green Green! Always think green foods when you aiming to detox your body. Green foods like asparagus, broccoli, kale, spinach and leeks help your liver and other detox organs to properly filter out toxins from our bodies. So this soup is a perfect option for the 10 day detox I am about to embark on.
Many people believe that expensive detox kits or starvation diets are the best way to cleanse-however, this is untrue. Many times, all we need to do is employ simple concepts to help detoxify. Proper hydration, green foods, adequate protein, sleep are just a few but also the major pieces of the detox puzzle- and are often enough to gently cleanse our bodies.
Enjoy this soup in any season. For a pinch more protein, I add 3tbsp of hemp seeds per serving after I have heated the soup.
- 2-3 tbsp virgin olive oil
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 large leek roughly chopped
- 1 cup chopped asparagus
- 1.5 cups broccoli
- 1/2 cup kale
- 2 cups spinach
- 4 cups of No sodium vegetable Stock
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tsp Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cracked pepper
- Slice of Lemon Squeezed once soup has been pureed
Add garlic, leeks, sea salt, pepper and onion to heated pot with oil and let soften for about 5minutes
Add remaining vegetables and garlic powder and soften for 7-8 minutes.
Add water and stock and scrap the bottom of the pan with a ladle to ensure any caramelization has been added to soup.
Let mixture cook for 10-15 minutes and then puree with hand blender or transfer to a high powered blender.
If needed, add more garlic power, pepper and sea salt to bring out flavours.
