It is all over every social media post, front cover of magazines and every one is talking about the clean life they are going to achieve in 2017! Awesome, right! But wait how do we kickstart January so we are ready to make this happen? We recommend these MUST DO’S for a successful detox and get your body ready for your best year yet!
5 Way to Detox December to Increase Energy and Reduce Cravings
1. SUGAR CHALLENGE
Do it. For real. No “sugar” for 1 week. This means absolutely nothing that contains sugar. This may sound easy, but if you have indulged at all over the holiday break you may not realize the state of affairs in your body. Don’t wait! Eliminate all foods that contain white sugar, brown sugar, honey, agave, maple syrup. I would include staying away from any alcohol for the entire week. I challenge you! Share with us on social media your success stories and biggest challenges.
Consider taking a Complete, Well-Balanced B Vitamin supplement to manage a healthy stress response, promote energy metabolism and proper nervous system functions.
3. MATCHA TEA
Keep it clean and optimize the amazing health benefits of a warming cup of matcha tea. Choose to use almond milk, coconut milk, nut milk for a super energy boost and easily digestible dairy option. Matcha tea is super high in powerful anti-oxidants, helps to increase metabolism and burn calories and detoxifies the body.
Getting protein into your diet at least 3x/day is one of the biggest challenges facing my clients in my clinic. Most of the time we all think we are getting enough protein. My protocol promotes at least 20g of healthy protein 3 servings/day at a minimum. This manages your blood glucose levels, decreases your cravings and increases the thermogenic burn of fat tissue. 3 TBSP of HEMP HEART SEEDS will equal 1 serving of protein. Super easy to add to smoothies, soups, salads or a stir-fry!
5. SLIP AWAY
I love this site ~ calm.com. The visual alone when you enter the site is immediately calming and then choose one of the great 7 Day Programs to manage your stress, focus, anxiety or simply to start your day. It is completely free and allows you to be mindful of where you are at. Use it to guide your day, manage insomnia, escape for a few minutes each and every day.
January is a month of resetting and kick-starting your health and lifestyle. I don’t believe it means we have to set lofty goals and strive for perfection. It means a time of growth and reflection on how we can make small changes to improve how we feel and a healthy life.
Yours in health, Michelle xo
